How to Add URL Parameters to Meta / Facebook Ads
Juicy attributes every Shopify order to the ad that drove it by reading a tracking parameter on your ad's destination URL. Add it once per ad and Juicy will automatically match purchases to the correct campaign, ad set, and ad — no pixel, no extra app permissions.
The parameter Juicy needs
Add this tracking string to your ad's URL parameters field:
juicy_source=facebook&juicy_aid={{ad.id}}
If you also rely on standard UTM tracking for other tools, you can combine both in a single field — the full string we recommend is below.
utm_source={{site_source_name}}&utm_medium={{placement}}&utm_campaign={{campaign.id}}&utm_term={{adset.id}}&utm_content={{ad.id}}&juicy_source=facebook&juicy_aid={{ad.id}}
Already tracking with Triple Whale, Hyros, or similar?
Juicy also recognizes a handful of parameters used by other attribution tools, so you don't need to touch campaigns that already have them set up:
| Parameter | Example value |
|---|---|
juice | {{ad.id}} |
ad_id | {{ad.id}} |
tw_adid | {{ad.id}} |
h_ad_id | {{ad.id}} |

Open URL parameters and click Edit
-
Click "Add parameter" twice

Frequently asked questions
Will this affect my ad's learning phase?
Editing a live ad's URL parameters can restart its learning phase. Add the parameter when you create new ads to avoid disrupting ads that are already performing well.
Do I need to do this for every single ad?
Yes — the {{ad.id}} variable is unique per ad, so the parameter needs to be present on each ad individually for Juicy to attribute orders correctly at the ad level.
