How to Add URL Parameters to Google Ads

Last updated: 30 December 2025 · Applies to Performance Max and standard Google Ads campaigns

Google Ads supports a single tracking template per campaign, which Juicy reads to match Shopify orders back to the campaign, ad group, and ad that generated them. Unlike some ad platforms, adding this template does not restart your campaign's learning phase or affect delivery — it's safe to add to live campaigns at any time.

1. Open your campaign settings

In your Google Ads account, select the campaign you want to track and click Edit settings.

2. Find Campaign URL options

Scroll down to Campaign settings, expand Additional settings, then open Campaign URL options.

3. Paste the tracking template

Use the code that matches your campaign type.

Performance Max campaigns

{lpurl}?juicy_source=google&juicy_cid={campaignid}

Standard campaigns (Search, Display, YouTube, etc.)

{lpurl}?juicy_source=google&juicy_cid={campaignid}&juicy_agid={adgroupid}&juicy_aid={creative} Tracking template field in Google Ads Campaign URL options

4. Save

Click Save. The template applies immediately — no need to republish or pause the campaign.

✅ Done — Juicy will now attribute orders from this campaign automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does this restart my campaign's learning phase?

No. Tracking templates in Google Ads are read-only metadata appended to your destination URL — they don't change targeting, bidding, or delivery, so your campaign's learning phase and performance history stay intact.

Do I need to repeat this for every ad group?

No. The tracking template is set once at the campaign level and automatically fills in the right campaign, ad group, and ad ID values for every ad within it.

Which code should I use?

Use the Performance Max version for Performance Max campaigns. For Search, Display, YouTube, Shopping, or any other standard campaign type, use the second code that includes juicy_agid and juicy_aid for more granular ad-level attribution.
