How to Set Up COGS

Last updated: 1 May 2026 · Applies to the COGS tab in product settings

COGS stands for cost of goods sold. By default, Juicy uses the cost you've already set on the product in Shopify. The COGS tab lets you go further — entering exact, volume-based pricing when your supplier charges differently depending on order quantity.

Why use the COGS tab instead of the Shopify product cost?

If your product always costs the same to produce, the default Shopify "cost of goods" is enough — you don't need to touch this feature. The COGS tab exists for cases where your supplier gives you a quote with different prices depending on how many units you order at once, so Juicy can calculate your exact profit instead of a flat estimate.

How to enter it in the app

Open the COGS tab on the product and enter the cost for each quantity tier from your supplier's quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need this if I already set a product cost in Shopify?

No. If your product always has the same cost, the default Shopify cost of goods is enough. This feature is only useful for more detailed, volume-based pricing.

What happens if I only fill in 1 or 2 quantity tiers?

Juicy extends the pattern. For example, if 1 unit costs $5 and 2 units cost $8, that's the same as saying "the second unit costs $3 more" — so a third unit would also add $3, making 3 units cost $11.

What if my supplier's price already includes shipping?

That's fine — just enter the total cost (product plus shipping) exactly as shown on the quote. That's exactly what Juicy needs to calculate accurate profit.
