How to Configure PayPal Fees in Juicy
PayPal fees in Juicy come from two different sources: PayPal's own processing fee, which Juicy reads automatically, and a separate fee Shopify may charge on top — which depends entirely on your Shopify plan and whether Shopify Payments is enabled.
1. PayPal processing fees — automatic
Juicy automatically extracts PayPal's own processing fees directly from the transaction receipt received through Shopify. You do not need to enter the flat fee or percentage fee manually — both come straight from your PayPal account.
2. Shopify third-party transaction fees — you must enter this
Shopify may charge an extra fee when customers pay through an external provider like PayPal. Whether this applies to you depends on your plan and your Shopify Payments setting.
If Shopify Payments is enabled
You pay no third-party transaction fees on PayPal payments.
If Shopify Payments is disabled
Shopify charges an additional fee based on your plan:
| Shopify plan | Third-party transaction fee |
|---|---|
| Basic | 2% |
| Grow | 1% |
| Advanced | 0.6% |
Enter in Juicy: Shopify relative fee = your plan's fee (for example, 2% on the Basic plan). See the current rates on Shopify's pricing page.
Summary
| Situation | What to enter in Juicy |
|---|---|
| Shopify Payments ON | Shopify relative fee = 0% |
| Shopify Payments OFF | Shopify relative fee = your plan's % |
| PayPal processing fees | Automatic — no input needed |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to enter PayPal's own fee manually?
No. PayPal's processing fee — both the flat fee and the percentage — is extracted automatically from the transaction receipt Shopify passes to Juicy.
How do I know if Shopify Payments is enabled?
Check Settings → Payments in your Shopify admin. If Shopify Payments is listed as your active provider, it's enabled and your relative fee should be 0%.
